These comics will not make you feel good but they will make you feel. They emote feeling by capturing a lived experience that many people can relate to. Agreed but Disney has been known to sue child care centers for having pictures of Mickey Mouse and sending Etsy creators cease and desist letters for selling Disney related merch. Too bad because I really enjoyed watching your videos because you knew certain story lines weren't always in numerical order and/or in just a particular title. That's a 40,000 ft view/knowledge that not everyone is going to have even with a digital Marvel subscription.

      Thanks. I've mentioned in reply to some other comments that I think there are ways it could still be done. I think a podcast format where 2-4 people discussed a story arc or even a run of 3-6 comics in series would be a great way of talking about these subjects without using my previous format. I just don't have the reach to know those people in my life. I don't know anybody else in my real life who collects comics. If I meet the right people or get the right reach to find those people - I am all about it. I need a dynamic duo or a team of avengers to assemble to pull it off.

    The only big problem with patreon (twitch have same problem) is, that you must need a credit card, even when there is a paypal option, you still need a credit card. So any country that uses pin cards instead of credit card can't use it, well some of those you can get a credit card, but must a certain minimum amount. There r pay credit cards, but that will cost extra money. Either some countries have high taxation what is used with patreon as well. Although these r problems i have seen a few months ago, idk if they still r there on patreon. I do wonder if the comic is send worldwide, as than 7 bucks (discounting high tax) would be pretty cheap.

      I could do this but not in the format I was doing it. I think it would work great as a podcast format if I had 1-3 other people to talk with and we could discuss story arcs in detail and leave links to the Marvel U on what we discussed. The same goes for Spawn. I would love to do this idea but I don't know anybody else who collects comics other than the interactions I do through this channel. Short answer is I am working on it but the long answer is that it's hard to make new friends as an adult. It goes back to what I said at the beginning of the video about comics being a mostly solitary experience. Eventually the channel might grow large enough where I have the kind of reach to achieve these goals and meet those people. Hashtag futuregoals. I have been a Laurel looking for my Hardy all my life. So, don't give up hope - just hope I get enough reach or meet the right people to take on that venture

    What was the last Marvel comic that you were truly excited about? What's your favorite comic of all time and who's your favorite writer of all time?

    • @Cosmic.Comics
      @Cosmic.Comics 2 місяці тому

      Last Marvel comic I was excited to read as an issue and as a series was G.O.D.S. - I was also excited Empyre when it came it out. The last series I really enjoyed was The Ultimates 2. The last Marvel Comic I bought has probably been a little over a year - whenever I canceled Guardians of the Galaxy. My favorite Marvel storyline is probably Cosmos in Collision. The entire Quasar run does a great job of leading up to it. Favorite Marvel writer is Mark Gruenwald. Favorite author isn't a comics author - Mark Z. Danielewski. His most well known book is House of Leaves. Favorite comic author is regrettably - Todd McFarlane. Spawn just keeps going after all these years. I both hate and enjoy his writing. It's complicated. I thought Ed Piskor was doing some interesting stuff but then he killed himself. I thought Rick Remender was doing some great stuff (X-men run, Black Science, Low, Deadly Class) but then he kind of fell off with his more recent projects. I wish I had a favorite single comic. I hope I'm still waiting on it to enter my life. I have always thought that The Uncanny X-Men #201, the first appearance of Cable (as a baby) was kind of neat but it's definitely not my favorite or even a top 5. Just interesting.

    I've dropped all of Marvel after obsessively collecting the entire line for decades. Woke content isn't the real problem- they hired writers who don't know what they're doing and editorial standards are non existent. Continuity is completely shot

    • @Cosmic.Comics
      @Cosmic.Comics 2 місяці тому

      I agree that continuity is shot. I keep feeling like I'm missing something - but I'm not. It's just write whatever you want over there. Again, my biggest problem with Marvel is boredom. I keep trying to decide if the problem is me (maybe I have read too many superheroes stories) or if the problem is the creative direction of Marvel. I think the biggest problem is they are hiring writers who don't seem to know or understand the history of the characters they are writing. I know it's a Herculean tasks but maybe a writer should spend several months reading ALL the past Thor if they are going to write for Thor. I don't know who writes for Thor these days, just using it as an example. Marvel's continuity was one of the things that attracted me to them for so long.

      @@uxm4life94 ain't a day goes by I don't wish Gruenwald had as long a life as Stan Lee. To this day I think he's the gold standard. When it comes to continuity, to running a character, to running a franchise. He had rules around his writing. Wish I had them right here - Mark's 5 rules. That Captain America run and his Quasar run are some of the finest Marvel comics ever written. Wish I knew who at Marvel hired on Greg Capullo to work with Mark on Quasar. I've never heard anybody talk much about this part of Greg's career. When all the artist banded together to create Image - i knew a low selling comic like Quasar was going to lose Greg, and sure enough - he got shuffled off to do something else. But there for a moment we had something special. Happy to see an end to the Krakoan era. We all knew this day had to come. May the phoenix that is X-Men rise stronger from its ashes. I feel like the reset is really being brought on to have a new baseline for when Mutants get introduced back into the MCU. It's a good marketing decision to have Krakoa end right now.

    I honestly hope you keep your old catalog of videos up. Listening to your voice and synopsis of the comics is why I tune into your channel. What you create in your recaps is a new way of enjoying comics I've already read (mostly). It helps an old cop sleep. I stopped buying comics around 2009. New things were boring to me and I didn't like anything Marvel had produced. I was buying Dynamite Savage Tales comics for the anthologies. Mostly sword and sorcery but some weird tales included. The comic shops near me all but boarded up. There's a place called Cloud City near me. I don't chat there. I do try to be friendly, but I find that comic book fans are also gamers and that hobby consumes existence. I just don't like that anymore. It's stressful to talk about gaming anymore. Same with comics. Last two things I got were a Jonah Hex trade and a Trade for The Spirit.

Is it not? I'm not sure any longer. Recently my pulls box went down to a sliver (six months to a year ago). About the only thing I had coming in was Spawn and a couple of other ongoing titles. I've been beefing it back up lately but i have to actively seek out what I want to read as 80% of it won't be stocked by the local comics shop. I will be looking at a few anthologies soon. I started following the channel because of the material and the way it was presented, speed of transition, focus on particular nuances of the comics of the era, the actual connection with previous vids, etc and epic voice didn't hurt but then i noticed it was not just the focus u had but the aproach and ur opinion about it, so im just delighted to hear this means more content from you, you got my full support! btw my last purhcase was a Doctor Who comic

      @@Cosmic.Comics Very surprised you don’t already know of it. It was made by a mingling of Marvel and dc. The chars were mixes of certain thematically similar themes. Captain Steven Rogers plus Kal-El made Super Soldier. Captain Mar-vell plus Fawcett’s Captain Marvel. Storm plus Wonder Woman made Amazonian. There were a bunch of stand-alone issues. Batman plus Wolverine. Iron-Man plus Green Lantern made Iron Lantern. Dr. Strange-Fate.

      @@leafcatcher1715 I don't catch everything. Especially from the late 90's through the 00's. Looks like this came out after I stopped collecting (I do collect again now). I was never big into DC but I do remember hearing about the big Marvel vs DC crossover event of 96. Unfortunately, I was in high school at the time and all my money was being spent on CDs and girls. I read up on the event just now - and I don't even recall seeing the Amalgam logo before. And I used to work in a comic shop. This has me feeling like I just stepped into an alternate earth timeline

    Nice to put a face to the epic voice, For me, I pretty much only focus on back issues these days, all the new books just aren't written for me and it seems they go out of there way to alienate long-time buyers because they can. As for Recap channels I have a problem when some of the bigger UA-camrs get 200 thousand views for a comic book that sold 23k issues. But that's just me, when i left the industry I realized its a dying art form, and now its just propaganda and ads for upcoming moves

      Agreed. I have a larger audience than some of the creators I want to cover. I just hope I can bring them some more attention. There is a lot of great art and great stories that are being produced and gaining zero traction.

      Be careful with those - they look sweet but its very easy to pull a comic forward from the top and put a big crease on the spine. If you get one - use an cardboard backers for the ones you put on the rack. They do look sweet.

    Are you going to keep doing spawn?

    • @Cosmic.Comics
      @Cosmic.Comics 2 місяці тому

      I would love to. Spawn is my favorite series - and Todd is putting everything on steroids with the number of new series he is releasing this year. But I can't keep doing Spawn the way I was doing it. Most everything I could cover for Spawn would be less than 30 years old. I think something like a podcast style might work - where two or three people discussed an issue or storyline in detail (and maybe discuss the week/month's current issues as well) where they didn't show the entire comic panel by panel. But I need to find another Spawn junkie (or two) who are as deep into Spawn as I am to pull that off. I think Spawn does need to be discussed in detail as there is a huge hole in any kind of detailed analysis of the lore - That hole and my love of Spawn are why I switched over to Spawn for a bit. It kind of all goes back to keeping art in boxes. Art that nobody but me ever gets to see. It's why I want to talk about Spawn. I've got all this art in boxes but I can't show it off. How do I talk about it without showing all of it off? I don't know. This has kept my head spinning for the past few weeks. I got some ideas but I'm just one guy trying to talk about comics and keep it honest

    I've been increasingly becoming more bored with new, "mainstream" books. I have stuck with Hulk since immortal ended. It's had fun ideas, and now Nic Klein's art has really captured my attention. I grab a few other ongoing series, but I'm mostly grabbing one-shots and mini-series. My local shop doesn't branch out too far from known sellers, so I have to do my own research to find interesting books. Seven Years in Darkness has been an interesting read, but it's a good example of an almost unknown publisher that I and the buyer at my lcs had never heard of before this book was solicited.

      I am jumping into Seven Years at year two. I probably need to try and pick the first part of the series up. I was hoping for a trade but with such a small publisher that might never happen. It looks great. I am in the same boat of grabbing one shots and mini series based on what I think looks neat/good. I scour Previews each month as a starting point and fortunately I have a shop that is willing to bring in whatever I order.

    My question is, does Thanos now stop loving death by the end? Does his realisation that he has always been alone mean that he no longer wants death's approval? If so does that mean he does not want to kill anymore? Or does his realisation of always being alone mean that he recognises that he really only was ever killing for himself - like a'lars says - and so continues to kill simply for his own desire? But then its paradoxical because if he is only killing for his own desire, it would still make his own desires the pursuit of death? Perhaps that is proof that death here is an actual entity as opposed to the a mental personification of death as concept.🤣 Someone help me understand 🙏🏽 - I love this comic so much

    You're probably right, the plot was weak, but the ideas and themes were strong, and I think it just about saves the comic book. Kang is an evil but complex character, whose love for the tragic Ravonna is however overridden by his selfish need for power. He is torn between these twin desires and won't find contentment. The Grand Master tells the Avengers to pity Kang, despite the fact that he is despicable. He is ancient, compassionate and wise ["in his eyes, a look that has seen galaxies die"], despite having a hobby that involves playing a game on a cosmic scale with life itself as the stakes. He is really beyond mere good and evil. There are different levels, despite the flaws you point to.

    One of the recent-ish additions to her lore that I really like is that she’s now been revealed as a mutant. Makes sense, mutants drawing power from pocket dimensions has always been a kind of subclass within mutantdom: like Scott’s lasers or the Dark Dimension users. It makes me wonder though if she’s actually thematically related to Illyana with her control over Limbo in someway because their x-gene activated from being exposed to a different dimension. Maybe they are a sub-sub-class of mutants like the Lupines are for animal types. I’d be very grateful to know if anyone has any insight into this!
